Lacy and Chris met in 2006. Read that again – in 2006, at Guitar Center! They didn’t start dating then, but they were friends. And then they started dating and eight years later, they were married!
Robin and Tom were in the wedding party – we did their wedding back in 2016, I believe, at the Embassy Suites by the airport. They haven’t aged a single day!
Ladies got ready at the Joinery Hotel – this hotel used to be called the Distrikt Hotel. It’s actually an old building
built in 1924 for the Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania. Cool features of this hotel include the rooftop and the lobby and listening library. It was a chilly day and we definitely incorporated the record player and headset and books to represent Lacy and Chris’s relationship and how they met.
We headed around the downtown area to get photos – over to the parking garage (ran into a bunch of other photographers there) and to the Bank Tower, which is a classic and gorgeous spot and let our couple warm up a bit.
Then we headed to the Aviary. Lacy and Chris love birds, so we made sure to get some shots in the exhibits and in the garden. The ceremony was officiated by none other than Rick Sebak – I believe Lacy and Chris know him a bit from Chris’s work/podcast. If you don’t know who he is – he is a Pittsburgh celebrity, famous for his work on WQED Kennywood Memories and other Pittsburgh nostalgia work.
Lacy and Chris wrote their own vows and did a handfasting ceremony. They skipped the wedding cake but did a huge potluck cookie table! Lacy lost her father several years ago and she incorporated him with a chair of honor in memory and by wearing his leather jacket.
Here’s something I have never seen before and loved – Lacy and Chris walked down the aisle together. It was great symbolism and I saw guests smiling as they saw this unexpected twist!
There were lots of jewel tones, a moody vibe, a lounge set up, the aesthetic was overgrown solarium. We had such a great time with these two!
