Kyohei was working here in Pittsburgh temporarily and his girlfriend (now fiancee!) came to visit from Japan. On her second-to-last day visiting, Kyohei took her up to Mount Washington and proposed at sunset – he timed it perfectly after dinner. When Kyohei contacted me to plan his proposal, we talked about the best timing and the best locations – up on Mount Washington, I love Monterey Bay and Altius as great dinner suggestions.

My favorite overlook spot on Grandview Avenue is right across from Monterey Bay – there’s a statue there called “Point of View” and the view is of – well, the Point! :) There’s also a “tower viewer” up there – I just googled “cute binoculars you put a quarter in” to find the name of that item. But go down the hill (following the gravel path) from there, to the left, and that’s my absolute favorite proposal spot – no railing, full view of the city, more private than up on Grandview Ave.

Kyohei arranged to have me bring flowers, I put them on the spot, and his partner was so surprised and shocked! How awesome to go home ENGAGED – the excitement of that carrying you through the rest of the long distance relationship until they are back in the same city again.
